What Do We Know so Far About the Shooter's Identity in the Charlie Kirk Case?
Investigators reveal key details about the Charlie Kirk shooter’s age, appearance, movements, and evidence found in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities in Utah are still working to identify the shooter involved in the Charlie Kirk case, and only limited information has been released so far.

According to officials, the suspect has been referred to as male and “appears to be of college age.”
Utah’s Department of Public Safety said the shooter “blended in well with the college institution,” making it more difficult to identify him immediately. Investigators also confirmed they have images of the suspect but are holding back from releasing them to the public for now. They stated that if efforts to identify him stall, the images may be released to seek public assistance.
No Suspects, Only Persons of Interest
Authorities clarified that the two people interviewed immediately after the shooting were “persons of interest” and not suspects. This distinction underscores the ongoing nature of the investigation and the careful approach officials are taking to verify information before releasing it publicly.
The Shooter’s Movements Before and After the Incident
Officials provided a timeline of the suspect’s movements leading up to and after the shooting. The shooter arrived on campus at 11:52 a.m., just under 30 minutes before the shooting occurred at around 12:20 p.m. Investigators believe he entered the campus, moved through stairwells, climbed onto the roof, crossed to the shooting location, and fired.
After the shooting, the suspect reportedly moved to the other side of the building, jumped off, and fled into a nearby neighborhood. At some point, he made his way to a wooded area, where authorities later discovered a weapon believed to be used in the shooting — described as a “high-powered bolt action rifle.”
Evidence Recovered from the Scene
As part of the investigation, officials said they recovered several pieces of physical evidence, including a “footwear impression, a palm print, and forearm imprints.” These are now being analyzed to provide leads on the shooter’s identity.
Investigation Continues
The ongoing investigation has yet to name or confirm the identity of the shooter, but officials are steadily piecing together a profile based on movement patterns, physical evidence, and witness accounts. As more information becomes available, authorities are expected to release updates and possibly seek public help in identifying the suspect.
