US President Predicts Middle East War Could Last Four Weeks or Less as Strikes Escalate

US President Donald Trump said that the ongoing war in the Middle East, centred on military strikes against Iran, could last “four weeks or less,” as American and allied forces continue air operations and regional hostilities intensify.
Speaking to the press and in interviews with international media, Trump said the military campaign, which involves coordinated strikes by US and Israel forces against Iranian targets, was planned with a timeline of about a month, given the size and complexity of the country. “As strong as it is, it’s a big country; it’ll take four weeks—or less,” he said.
The conflict escalated earlier this week after joint US-Israeli operations targeted senior Iranian leadership and strategic sites, prompting Tehran to carry out retaliatory strikes on regional bases and infrastructure. Trump suggested the campaign is progressing largely “as per plan” but acknowledged that hostilities on the ground and at sea continue to unfold.
Trump framed the operation as essential to countering what he described as Iran’s long-range missile threat and broader regional influence. In his comments, he reiterated that US objectives would be achieved within the projected timeline and hinted at the possibility of future negotiations, despite continued fighting.
The president’s estimate arrives as allied military actions and retaliatory strikes have been reported across the Gulf and Levant, raising concerns about broader regional instability. Independent analysts caution that conflicts often defy early timelines, and the outcome remains uncertain.
As the situation evolves, global leaders have called for restraint and diplomatic engagement alongside ongoing security measures.
