'The Walking Dead' Actress Kelley Mack Dies at 33

Kelley Mack, best known for her portrayal of Addy in Season 9 of The Walking Dead, has tragically passed away at the age of 33 following a battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer affecting the central nervous system. She died peacefully on August 2 in Cincinnati, surrounded by her mother and aunt.

In January, Mack bravely shared her diagnosis of diffuse midline glioma (a highly malignant astrocytoma) with fans. She had initially experienced persistent back pain and shooting sensations in her legs, which led to the discovery of the tumor.

She detailed the challenges of her condition, including the loss of mobility in her right leg and most of her left, which resulted from surgery on her spinal cord.

Despite her illness, Mack continued to inspire with her resolve. Her family’s announcement described her as “a bright, fervent light,” and noted that “Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies.”

A celebration of her life is set for August 16 in Ohio, with an additional memorial to be held later in Los Angeles for industry friends.

Born Kelley Lynne Klebenow in Cincinnati on July 10, 1992, Mack was a Chapman University graduate with a degree in cinematography.

She began her career early, appearing in commercials for brands such as Dr. Pepper and Chick‑fil‑A, and building a diverse portfolio that included roles on The Walking Dead, Chicago Med, and 9‑1‑1. Her film credits include Broadcast Signal Intrusion and the yet-to-be-released Universal.

Her passing has deeply affected fans and colleagues alike, who remember her for her grace, creativity, and irrepressible spirit. She is survived by her parents, sister Kathryn, brother Parker, her grandparents, and her boyfriend, Logan.
