Spain Pushes for UN Resolution Against Aid Blockade in Gaza

Spain's Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, said in a tweet on X that his country is working towards a resolution in the UN General Assembly to end Israel's blockade of aid in Gaza. 

He wrote, "More and more leaders are raising our voices against what’s happening in Gaza...The bombing of civilians must stop immediately. The situation is unbearable."

Half a million people in the Gaza Strip are facing starvation and the rest of the population is experiencing accute food insecurity, according to a recent report from UN’s Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).

According to media reports, 360 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in 36 hours in Gaza. The Israeli newspaper, Maariv, reported that an Israeli airstrike hit Gaza every four minutes on Friday, May 16.
