During the Arab Media Summit 2025 in Dubai, British journalist Piers Morgan delivered a compelling address emphasizing the critical need for press freedom and transparent reporting on the Gaza conflict.
He criticized Israel's restrictions on international media access to Gaza, arguing that such limitations hinder objective journalism and fuel misinformation.
Morgan said, "My firm message to Prime Minister Netanyahu: let the journalists in."
"Let the international journalists in, and then we can work out whether what Israel is saying is correct. My suspicion is it’s not," he added.
He pointed out actions such as the shutdown of the Al Jazeera office in the West Bank as indicative of a broader suppression of press freedoms.
Addressing the broader media landscape, Morgan reflected on his platform's role in facilitating discussions on the Gaza conflict. He said, "I’ve always had Palestinian-supporting guests on – probably more than any show of the kind that I do."
The British journalist emphasized how the recent aid blockade in Gaza has crossed all limits, saying, "There are now two former Israeli prime ministers who are condemning what Israel is doing as war crimes."
Piers Morgan emphasized the importance of having trained journalists to combat the rise of misinformation online and restore the public's trust in journalism.
