Pakistan's Adiala Jail Shuts Down Rumors About Imran Khan's Death

In a dramatic turn of events following widespread online rumours, Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi officially rejected claims that former Prime Minister Imran Khan had died or been moved from his cell.

On Thursday, November 27, authorities released a statement declaring the rumours “baseless,” affirming that Khan remains incarcerated at Adiala Jail and is in good health under “constant medical supervision.”

The speculation reportedly began circulating across social media and some regional media outlets, alleging that Khan’s body had been shifted from the facility following his alleged death. Prison officials, however, were quick to dispel these claims, insisting that there was no transfer, and added that Khan was receiving proper care and remains “fully healthy.”

To reinforce their statement, authorities pointed to the ongoing medical attention afforded to Khan and reiterated that the allegations about his health deterioration were unfounded. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its supporters have long expressed concern over possible isolation and restricted access to family and lawyers.

Even senior officials spoke publicly: Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, defended the prison conditions, stating that Khan was provided with comfortable accommodation, access to entertainment, exercise equipment, and “food that isn’t available even in a five-star hotel.”

The jail’s clarifications have done little to quell public unease. In recent weeks, the lack of transparency around visits from family and lawyers — reportedly denied for over three weeks — fueled speculation and distrust among Khan’s supporters.

Yet, as of now, the official record stands: Imran Khan remains alive, well, and behind bars at Adiala Jail, with all reports of death or transfer firmly denied by prison authorities.
