Israel Issues Last Warning for Residents to Flee Gaza City

Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz issued a stark warning on Wednesday, October 1, declaring a final opportunity for residents of Gaza City to flee south before the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) intensify their military operations in the region.

The announcement comes as Hamas weighs US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end nearly two years of war in the Palestinian territory.

“This is the last opportunity for Gaza residents who wish to do so to move south and leave Hamas terrorists isolated in Gaza City itself, facing the IDF's ongoing operations at full force,” Katz stated on social media platform X. He added that anyone remaining in Gaza will be considered a terrorist or terror supporter, as the army escalates its campaign against Hamas.

The Defence Minister emphasized that the IDF is prepared for all possibilities, with a commitment to continue operations until all hostages are freed and Hamas is disarmed. Katz underscored that these steps are part of Israel’s broader strategy to end the ongoing war and restore security in the region.

In recent hours, Israeli forces have announced the capture of the Netzarim corridor up to the Gaza coast, effectively cutting off Gaza City from the southern part of the enclave. This strategic move tightens the encirclement around the city, leaving Hamas increasingly isolated.

Israel confirmed that residents fleeing south will have to pass through IDF inspection checkpoints, highlighting the military’s efforts to control movements while ensuring Hamas operatives remain trapped within Gaza City.

As the situation intensifies, the warning marks a critical juncture in the conflict, raising concerns over civilian safety and the humanitarian impact of the IDF’s full-scale operations. With pressure mounting on Hamas to respond to diplomatic efforts, the coming days will be pivotal in determining whether the war continues or a path toward resolution emerges.
