On Friday, May 23, 11-year-old Yaqeen Hammad, widely recognized as Gaza's youngest social media influencer, was killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Al-Baraka neighborhood in Deir al-Balah.

Known for her uplifting content and humanitarian efforts, Yaqeen's death has resonated deeply both within Gaza and internationally.

Yaqeen gained prominence by sharing survival tips, makeshift recipes, and messages of hope through her social media platforms, amassing over 100,000 followers.

Collaborating with her older brother, Mohamed Hammad, she actively participated in the Ouena Collective, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting Gaza’s most vulnerable, especially orphans.

Together, they distributed food, clothing, and toys to displaced families, bringing moments of joy amidst the ongoing conflict.

In one of her posts, Yaqeen expressed her motivation: “I try to bring a bit of joy to the other children so that they can forget the war.”

The news of her death has sparked an outpouring of grief and condemnation on social media platforms. Tributes have highlighted her role as a symbol of hope and her unwavering commitment to bringing light to those around her.
