Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix to Join This Gaza Movie as Executive Producers

Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix have lent their influential support to the upcoming film The Voice of Hind Rajab, joining as executive producers ahead of its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

They’re joined by Rooney Mara, Jonathan Glazer, Alfonso Cuarón, Jemima Khan, Frank Giustra, and Sabine Getty, marking one of the most star-studded producer lineups in recent memory.

Directed and written by celebrated Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, known for her Oscar-nominated Four Daughters and The Man Who Sold His Skin, this drama revisits the harrowing real-life events of January 2024, when six-year-old Hind Rajab was fatally shot while trapped in her car during Israeli military operations in Gaza.

The film powerfully reconstructs Hind’s final hours, relying on her recorded conversations with Red Crescent volunteers who tried desperately to save her. The narrative is grounded in those haunting audio exchanges, capturing her plea for help and the devastating silence that followed.

Investigations revealed Israeli tanks were present in the area—contradicting official statements—and that Hind’s family vehicle suffered over 300 bullet hits.

Produced by Nadim Cheikhrouha, Odessa Rae, and James Wilson—with support from Film4, MBC Studios, and Plan B Entertainment—the film is already securing distribution deals across Europe via The Party Film Sales and in North America via CAA Media Finance.

The Voice of Hind Rajab will have its world premiere in competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2025, and its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2025.

Ben Hania explained her emotional connection to the project: upon hearing Hind’s voice online, she immediately abandoned other commitments to bring this story to life. Her focus was not on graphic imagery, but rather on the unbearable silence that follows when help doesn’t arrive.

Amid mounting protests and political tensions in Venice, the film festival has become a stage for activists demanding attention to the Gaza crisis. The Voice of Hind Rajab stands as both a cinematic achievement and a poignant act of remembrance.

With its emotionally gripping true story, cross-cultural production team, and A-list Hollywood backing, The Voice of Hind Rajab is poised to not only compete for prestigious awards but to resonate powerfully with global audiences and spark meaningful conversation.
