Welcome to the World of 'Thama'! Maddock Films Releases First Teaser of New Horror Comedy
A Red-Hot Vampire Romance: Maddock Films’ Horror-Comedy Universe Gets Its First Love Story
The much-anticipated teaser of Thama, headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, has just been unveiled.
Released on Tuesday, August 19, it offers a chilling yet romantic glimpse into a vampire love story that is poised to redefine the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU).
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the mind behind Munjya, Thama marks a tonal shift in the universe, bringing forth the first full-fledged love story wrapped in supernatural flair. As part of the universe that boasts hits like Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), Munjya (2024), and Stree 2 (2024), Thama sets itself apart by embracing romance amid horror and humor.
From the teaser’s opening lines—Ayushmann’s haunting “Will you be able to survive without me for a hundred years?” followed by Rashmika’s emotional reply, “Not even for a moment”—to the sudden descent into terror, the tone shift is both abrupt and compelling.
The glimpse teases a tale that spans two timelines, transitioning from modern India to the ancient Vijayanagar kingdom, as the story explores the mythological roots of vampirism through a historian’s lens.
In addition to the leading duo, the film features heavyweights Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik, and Geeta Agrawal, all of whom contribute to the film’s brooding, supernatural atmosphere.
Notably, the teaser has already sparked online debate over its resemblance to a dramatic rooftop scene from the South Korean drama My Demon, though the filmmakers have yet to comment.
Building on the teaser’s release, Thama is confirmed to hit theatres during Diwali 2025, specifically slated for a theatrical release on October 17, 2025, aligning with the festive season's ideal timing for such genre-blending entertainment.
With its blend of myth, romance, horror, and comedy, Thama promises to be a vivid new chapter in the Maddock universe—one that introduces emotion into the genre in a way viewers haven’t yet experienced from this franchise
