Authorities shift prayers to closed mosques to ensure public safety during ongoing security concerns.

Qatar has announced that Eid Al Fitr prayers this year will be held indoors across the country, as authorities take precautionary measures amid ongoing regional tensions.

The decision was confirmed by the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs, which stated that all Eid prayers will take place inside closed mosques rather than at open-air prayer grounds. The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of worshippers during a period of heightened security concerns.

Officials noted that the Eid prayer is scheduled for 5:53 am, with a list of designated mosques expected to be announced separately.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of escalating instability across the region, including recent missile and drone activity affecting multiple Gulf countries.

Authorities in Qatar have stepped up precautionary measures in recent days, prioritising public safety while maintaining religious observances.

Traditionally, Eid Al Fitr prayers in Qatar are held in large outdoor grounds to accommodate thousands of worshippers. However, the shift indoors reflects a broader regional response to current security developments.

Despite the changes, officials have reassured residents that arrangements are in place to facilitate smooth and safe prayers, allowing communities to mark the end of Ramadan in a secure environment.

The decision underscores Qatar’s cautious approach as it balances religious traditions with evolving security considerations across the Gulf.
