Three vaccines are now authorised in Dubai as the emirate approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca adding it to the list of the two authorized vaccines Pfizer-BioNTech and China's Sinopharm.

The consignment was ordered from the Serum Institute of India, which makes the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine on license.

Authorities said the shot will only be available at this stage to:

  • Emiratis and over-60s
  • frontline/vital workers
  • people with disabilities
  • All of the above must be Dubai visa holders

All shots will be given at One Central near Trade Centre. Meanwhile, more than 3.4 million vaccine doses have been administered in the UAE.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention confirmed 3,310 cases, bringing the country's brining the number to 309,649.
